Register

Visit the Canberra Brewers competition website.

If it is your first time entering, look for the ‘Account registration’ box on the homepage and set up an account – you will be asked to put in an email address, password, security questions and other details.

Don’t worry if you don’t know where you expect to drop off entries yet, or don’t expect to enter, it won’t lock you in to that option.

The profile you set up is then used for registering to steward, judge and enter.

If you have entered before (and forgot the password you used last time), find the log in link at the top right of the screen, then use the reset button.

When you’ve logged in, you’ll see some buttons under ‘My Account’ (on the right on larger screens or scroll down on smaller screens) to “Add Entry”, “Pay Entry Fees” and “Edit Account Info”. The form is fairly simple from here. You can go back and pay for your entries at any time.

From this profile page, you can also make yourself available to judge or steward – you find the section that has ‘Judge: No’ or ‘Steward: No’ and use the ‘change’ button to update this status, or you just edit your profile from one of the top buttons.

Judging

Fill out the BJCP ID number if you have one, and nominate to judge using the ‘Judging Session Availability’ by selecting ‘yes’ in drop down menus under the relevant sessions.

Add your preferred styles or non-preferred styles as appropriate, but try not to be too prescriptive.

Stewarding

Nominate yourself to help under the ‘Steward Session Availability’ by selecting ‘yes’ in drop down menus under the relevant sessions.

Saving changes

Strangely, instead of a ‘save’ button, it has a ‘Edit Account Info’ button at the bottom of the window to save your changes.

Entering beers

From the competition home page, log in to your account.

Find the  Entry Registration box and select ‘Add Entry’ or go to the ‘My Account’ menu at the top right of the screen and select ‘Add Entry’.

Add Entry

Add an ‘Entry Name’ (not shown to judges, has been known to give comp secs a giggle) and select the AABC 2022 Style from the drop down menu (corresponding BJCP style numbers are included in square brackets).

NOTE: Some styles require entrants to provide specific information when entering, please follow the prompts on the screen to ensure your entry can be judged appropriately.

Managing Entries

From the ‘My Account’ page, or the ‘My Account’ menu, select ‘Entries’

From here you can see the name you gave the beer, the style and other details. You can also see an edit button (pencil icon), print checkbox (printer icon) and delete button (trash can icon).

Pay Entry Fees

Make sure your entries are paid for before competition day to ensure your submissions can be judged. From the ‘My Account’ page or ‘My Account’ menu, select Pay Entry Fees. Selecting ‘Pay with PayPal’ and follow the prompts to complete the transaction using your PayPal account or a credit card.

Preparing your entry

One bottle/can per entry must be provided, minimum 450mL bottle or can.

All entries must be void of all identifying information, including labels and embossing. Printed caps are allowed, but must be blacked out completely.

Competition labels must be attached securely with clear tape. The Club and CompSec are not responsible for any mislabelled entries or entries missing labels.

To print labels

Go to ‘Entries’ under ‘My Account’

Select the ‘print’ checkbox for each entry you wish to prepare a label for, then scroll up to the ‘Print Selected Entry Labels’ button. The labels open in a new tab which opens the browser’s print dialogue box.

Printing a label

If you don’t have a printer connected, you can save as PDF and email to someone who can assist with printing.

Cut the labels out, and attach to the bottle with clear packing tape. To ensure the tape adheres properly, wipe any condensation off the bottle before wrapping the tape all the way around the bottle.

If you can’t access a printer, or are having difficulty with the entry platform, contact compsec@canberrabrewers.com.au.
