About Us
Canberra Brewers brings together a like-minded group of brewers on the quest for brewing better beer and other beverages such as mead & cider. Through education sessions, social events, competitions and monthly meetings, we look to share knowledge and ideas with brewers at all levels – from those starting out with kit and kilo, through to brewers brewing on all-grain three vessel systems.
We meet on the first Thursday of every month, at the White Eagle Polish Club in Turner, 38 David St, Turner ACT 2612, starting around 7:30pm. Any changes to this are posted to our Canberra Brewers Facebook Page.
Meetings usually involve an education session about a beer style or an aspect of brewing, updates from the club committee, a raffle with great brewing prizes, and members socialising and sharing their latest brews. We encourage all members and visitors to meetings to bring along a sample of your brew(s) to share and get feedback.
Canberra Brewers were the first brewing club in Australia to initiate the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) more than 20 years ago. The BJCP maintains the style guidelines used by most brewing competitions in Australia and understanding of these styles is used by brewers to improve their brewing. Participating in competitions as an entrant, steward or judge is a great way to learn and engage with other brewers.
For new members, please come along to the first meeting for free – we want to make sure you are comfortable and keen to be a member of the club. Club Membership is $60 per year. We use the Financial Year (FY) accounting period for membership periods, but new members in the first half of a calendar year can get membership for the coming FY included. Membership includes:
- access to the Canberra Brewers forum
- Bentspoke Daughters Membership (worth the price of your membership alone – providing discounts on beers at the Braddon Brewpub)
- access to discounts with local club supporters
- access to special club raffles and prizes
- invitations to brew days with professional brewers
- opportunities to join BJCP education, training and exam programs
- discounted rates with sponsors and supporters
