As Big Kev would say: i’m excited

By Paul Haesler, Treasurer

Authorbox_treasurer Hey all, it's your friendly neighbourhood treasurer Mozzie here. Well – all friendly now we've done the big account switch off at any rate. If you can no longer log on to the forum, it means you haven't paid. You should be aware of this anyway, because it's the most important $30 you'll spend all year (and our web-minion will have sent you an email when he deactivated your account).

At cutoff we had 82 paid-up members, with another 2 paying immediately on receiving their cutoff emails. This is a very healthy membership for this time of year, and I expect that this year we will easily break the highly symbolic 100-member barrier for the first time (We just missed it last year.)

I must say I am very excited to be on the committee this year with loads of new initiatives planned or already underway to benefit you, the paying members: Club miracle boxes, the club oxygen scheme, the bus-tour to Sydney in May, the new monthly Craftbrewer order – not to mention the amazing raffle prizes at each and every meeting. All this and more, for only $30!

It's a ridiculously good deal and it can't last. The committee is currently looking into public liability insurance, to allow us to continue to organise fantastic club events without undue risk to the club and committee. This will almost certainly involve a rise in membership fees next year. I would remind you all that we are currently one of the cheapest brewing clubs in Australia, and we have not changed our membership fees for many years. Therefore, I hope there will not be too much resistance to the higher prices. With the club being as active and successful as it is, this move is unavoidable and frankly long overdue.

See you all at the Harmonie Club on Thursday!
