Lock the 1st June in your calendars
The next club meeting is not far away on 1st June starting at 7:30pm at the Polish White Eagle Club (28 David St, Turner). You’ll all have a few brews getting prepared for the club competition, so don’t forget to bring a couple of them along to the next club meeting and get some early feedback.
The education session this month will involve Kurtz going fathoms-deep into his knowledge base to help you understand the main ingredient in your beer… water.
Canberra’s water (if you are on Stromlo feed) is both consistent and good for brewing. The buffering effects due to phosphates in grain combined with our water give a pretty close to ideal pH for most beers. But what happens if you have tank water or if you want to try and replicate the mineral content of Dublin, or Burton, or London or whatever water. How does that affect pH? Is it of any practical importance? Given the available xls information is it worth measuring pH anyway?
