The Canberra Brewers club hosts the annual ACT Amateur Brewing Championship (ACTABC). The ACTABC is as the highlight and culmination of the Canberra Brewers’ competition year, as
well as being the open qualifying competition for the Australian Amateur Brewing Championship (AABC).
For 2018, the ACTABC will be held on the weekend of 8-9 September 2018. Entry will be open approximately 4 weeks before the competition date, and close a week prior.
Watch out for updates on the Canberra Brewers website, our social media, and at Canberra’s homebrew shops.
Entries for the competition will be open to any amateur brewer. You don’t need to be a member
of the Canberra Brewers Club (but you may like to join up!). Entrants are invited to enter their beers against the AABC’s Style guides (available on the AABC website). Brewers can enter up to two entries per AABC category, but not more than one entry into the same AABC style.
Entrants will need to provide 1 x 500 to 750 ml bottle per entry. Smaller bottles (eg stubbies) will not be accepted.
The cost per entry in the ACTABC will be $5 for Canberra Brewers members and $8 for nonmembers, to be paid on entry. Payment is required on or before judging of entries, non-payment will result in disqualification. Entry fees are used to contribute to the cost of running the competition.
Entries will be completed online where each entry will be given a number – this number is to be affixed to or marked on your bottle(s) – not on the cap.
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place-getters in each ACTABC category qualify to enter a beer in the same category in the AABC, which for 2018 is to be held in Melbourne on Thursday 25th October
