July 2017 news and meeting preview

Temperatures are plummeting – this calls for a beer! Our next meeting is this Thursday, 6 July.  Here are the deets:

Education

Have you ever wondered what your beer would taste like if you changed just one variable? In this month’s education session, our very own Paul Main will take us through a triangle test to see if we can notice the variable and find out which one you prefer. Think Brülosophy, Canberra Brewers style! Places will be limited, so be prompt for a 7.30pm start.

Comp 2

Club competition 2 is now open for entries! The comp will be held on Sunday 23 July with entries closing on Saturday 15 July. All information on entering the comp is on the forum.  There is also a call for judges and stewards, so whether you’re entering or not please consider supporting one of the club’s best services by volunteering you time and/or tastebuds! New judges are always welcome, no experience required and you can even sit in as an ‘unofficial’ judge to boost your confidence 🙂

Raffle

Another great raffle this time; prizes will include:

  • Voyager Atlas grain
  • New style heat belts
  • Fresh hops
  • And a lovely range of commercial beer!

Six Pack Swap: Dark Fest!

This month, the six pack swap will have a Dark Fest theme, focusing on all those dark beers (stouts, Schwarzbier, Porters, Munich Dunkel etc.) that are great styles to appreciate over the winter season. If you’re interested in joining in, simply add your name to the list on the forum before the club meeting. On Thursday we’ll pool our beers and everyone who contributes gets to take home a mixed six pack of roasty goodness..

IHBD Oktoberfests on tap

Flowing through the club miracle boxes this month will be the remaining four beers brewed at our International Home Brew Day event back in May. These are all Oktoberfests, the same recipe by four different members. Prost!

See you on Thursday…

June’s club meeting will again be held at the Harmonie German Club in Narrabundah.  7.30pm sharp for the education session, followed by the usual club shenanigans.
